Introduction

Anahata Nepal is a non-profit organization registered with Kathmandu District Administration Office in September 2022 focusing on girl empowerment. Anahata is the fourth chakra or energy center. In Sanskrit, the word Anahata means “un-struck” or “unbeaten”. Anahata is often called the “heart” center, symbolizing the qualities of compassion, acceptance, universal love, selflessness, and devotion and these qualities are needed for us to connect with the people we work with and to inspire our purpose, attitude, and actions.

The organization uses the approach of empowerment through education, livelihood, and importantly community engagement for achieving its set objectives. Working in collaboration with the stakeholders and civil societies, being accountable to the community we work with, participatory planning of the programs, and working transparently for sustainability are some of the major strategies undertaken by the organization. The organization focuses the work to unleash the potential of the beneficiaries. We work to reduce all forms of violence and uplift the quality of life of the beneficiaries.

Objectives

01 - Engage in Prevention, Rescue, Protection, Rehabilitation, Government Engagement, Research, Partnerships, and Sustainability interventions that reduce crime, violence, exploitation, discrimination, etc against people including marginalized groups, children, girls, and women

02 - Engage in diverse forms of research on social issues

03 - Engage in community, interventions to strengthen communities, and empower communities making it a safer place

04 - Operate shelter homes, learning centers, community centers, community groups, adolescent groups, student clubs, and all other forms of physical infrastructure, meetings, clubs, and forums to uplift communities, rehabilitate individuals, provide care and protection to those in-need, and engage in any form of activity to help society.

Our Works

01 - Research Program

Anahata Nepal is committed to evidence-based approaches in our mission for girl empowerment. Our Research Program focuses on gathering data, conducting in-depth studies, and analyzing the challenges and opportunities that girls face. This research forms the foundation of our strategies, ensuring that our efforts are well-informed and responsive to the specific needs of the communities we serve. Through research, we aim to develop effective solutions and create lasting, positive impacts in the lives of girls.

02 - Strategic Outreach Engagement (Community Programs)

Anahata Nepal places a strong emphasis on community engagement and outreach through our Strategic Outreach Engagement initiatives. We collaborate closely with local communities to understand their unique needs and concerns, fostering a sense of ownership in our programs' planning and execution. We believe that true empowerment is achieved through collaboration, and these community programs play a pivotal role in creating a sustainable and safer environment for girls. Our efforts encompass a range of strategies, from prevention through awareness programs that address gender-based violence and promote healthy relationships to building collaborative partnerships with local stakeholders, capacity building for community members, and a participatory approach that empowers the community to take ownership. We also focus on strengthening local resources by working with child clubs, adolescents, youth clubs, and women's groups to promote and enhance the capacities of these vital community entities.

03 - Aftercare Program

Anahata Nepal's commitment to girls' well-being extends beyond initial interventions. Our Aftercare Program provides ongoing support and resources to ensure that the girls we work with continue to thrive. We offer mentorship, counseling, and skill-building opportunities to help them lead better lives with their full potential realized. By focusing on aftercare, we aim to create a lasting impact and ensure that the girls' empowerment journey remains a lifelong endeavor.

04 - Psychosocial Support

Anahata Nepal provides vital counseling services for marginalized groups and survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), with a particular focus on girls. We understand the profound emotional and psychological impact that marginalized individuals and GBV survivors can experience. Through our compassionate counseling support, we aim to facilitate healing and promote emotional well-being. Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to empowering individuals, helping them rebuild their lives, and providing a safe space for them to address their emotional and psychological needs. At Anahata Nepal, we believe that emotional healing is a crucial step towards building a brighter and more resilient future. In addition, we provide counseling services to marginalized girls in community schools who may be experiencing emotional and psychological distress, helping them heal, empowering them to realize their potential, and enabling them to build a brighter future.

05 - Legal Research

Anahata Nepal centers its work around legal research by conducting critical reviews and analyses of the existing national and international human rights framework. We aim to create an accessible, inclusive, transparent overview of the existing legal framework in Nepal addressing human rights issues that is comprehensible through a layman’s perspective. We also center around creating a comprehensive legal analysis of compliance, gaps, and opportunities within the existing human rights framework.

06 - Stakeholders Engagements

Collaboration with various stakeholders is at the core of our work. We actively engage with government bodies, NGOs, and civil societies to strengthen our collective efforts for girl empowerment. Being accountable to the communities we serve, we ensure that the voices of our stakeholders are heard, and their perspectives shape our programs. We operate transparently to build trust and promote sustainability, fostering a network of support that enables us to fulfill our vision of transforming society and ensuring the safety, security, and empowerment of every girl.
